Ingredients:
  • 5-7 red chili peppers, finely chopped
  • 3 shallots, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup kecap manis (Indonesian sweet soy sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions:
  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped shallots and minced garlic, and sauté until they become fragrant and slightly golden.
  2. Add the finely chopped chili peppers to the pan and continue to sauté for a couple of minutes until they soften.
  3. Stir in the kecap manis and lime juice. Cook for another minute or two, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  4. Remove from heat and let the Sambal Kecap cool down to room temperature.
  5. Transfer the Sambal Kecap to a clean, airtight jar or container.

Note: You can adjust the amount of chili peppers according to your preferred level of spiciness. You may also choose to remove the seeds for a milder heat.
