The history of kebab dates back to ancient times, when soldiers and hunters would grill meat on their swords over an open flame. Over time, the dish evolved into the kebab that we know today, with small pieces of meat skewered on wooden or metal skewers and grilled over an open flame.

Ingredients:
  • 500g beef, cut into small cubes
  • 1 can of coconut milk
  • 2 stalks of lemongrass, bruised
  • 2 keffir lime leaves
  • 3 tbsp of Rendang paste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes

Instructions:
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the beef, Rendang paste, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the beef marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Skewer the marinated beef cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers.
  5. In a small saucepan, heat the coconut milk, lemongrass, and kaffir lime leaves over medium heat.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 10-15 minutes until the flavors have melded together.
  7. Grill the kebabs for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the beef is cooked through and slightly charred.
  8. Brush the kebabs with the coconut milk mixture and serve hot.
